What is the NBN?

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is a national telecommunications network being built on behalf of the Federal Government. It’s changing the way Australians access the Internet, with super-fast fibre, fixed-wireless, and satellite technology being made available to all Australians.

The NBN is designed to replace or upgrade Australia’s existing, ageing copper network, which is no longer sufficient to support our growing demand for faster and more reliable Internet connections. It will be delivered via FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), FTTB (Fibre to the Building), FTTN (Fibre to the Node), Fixed-Wireless, and Satellite.
