We're a team of 25 in North Geelong looking after IT for businesses across Geelong, the Surf Coast and the rest of the country. No offshore call centre, no scripts, no tier-one queue reading from a flowchart. When a client rings, one of us picks up and owns it.

The fit check is the way in. There is no separate address to email, and you can attach a CV inside it if you want to. A person reads every one.

What the job is actually like

That way of working suits some people enormously and doesn't suit others, so here are the honest bits up front.

  • You'll talk to people all day. Phone, on site, face to face. If you'd rather work a queue in silence, you'd be miserable here.
  • You'll drive to sites. Geelong, the Bellarine, the Surf Coast. Some days you're at a desk, some days you're in the car.
  • You get the whole problem, not a slice of it. You own it from the phone call to the fix. That's more interesting and more pressure, in roughly equal measure.
  • Some days are unglamorous. Printers exist. So do cables under desks.
  • Most days somebody who was stuck isn't any more, and that was you. That's the actual job.

What we look for

Certificates are useful and we'll ask about them. They're not what decides it. We're looking for people who pick up the phone rather than typing three paragraphs, who'd rather fix the cause than close the ticket, who tinker with this stuff when nobody's paying them to, and who can tell a client “no, you don't need that” and explain why.

If that's you, the fit check above will be easy. If it isn't, the questions will be uncomfortable, and you've saved us both some time.
