Website Design in Geelong
GravIT designs and builds WordPress and Shopify websites for Geelong businesses. Responsive and mobile-first, built SEO-ready with Google Analytics wired in, and structured so you can update your own content. Designed, hosted and supported by one local team.
What your website is doing at 2am
Drag the sun across Corio Bay and watch a well-designed website earn its keep: it changes what it says as Geelong's day rolls on, dresses itself for the dark, and takes a booking while everyone's asleep.
Coffee, jaffles and the good window seats.
Saturday morning, window table:
Midday, answering “are you open?” so your phone doesn't have to.
What a website redesign actually changes
Not the colours. Whether it works.
It’s Thursday night and someone is deciding which Saturday inspections are worth the drive. Phone in hand, six tabs open, they will shortlist the listings that answer the obvious questions first. How many bedrooms, where exactly, what it actually looks like inside, and how to reach the agent without hunting for it. Every site we build is built for that moment.
- 1Reach the agent in one tap. The number is a real phone link on the first screen. Tap it and the dialler opens.
- 2Says what it is, and where. The address and suburb are the first heading, and the first thing Google reads.
- 3What they shortlist on, above the fold. Beds, baths, car spaces and land size before a single scroll, not an agency mission statement.
- 4Loads on one bar of 4G. Eight kilobytes of HTML, nothing loaded from anyone else, and 411 kB all up, six images and two floor plans included.
Now try yours.
- Open your site on your phone and count the taps between landing and hearing it ring.
- Turn off wi-fi and load it again on mobile data. Time it.
- Google what a customer would type, not your business name, and see if you exist.
Pass all three and you don't need us. Anything you just winced at is what a redesign changes.
Get it looked atArchetic is made up, a fictional agency, and 12 Archer Street is not a real listing, so no real client's property gets volunteered for ridicule. The demonstration is a real page though: open it, tap the number, load it on bad reception. We don't publish invented statistics, so the only numbers on this panel are ones you can check.
How and when we checked this
Measured 31 August 2026: hand-written HTML and CSS that gzips to 8.3 kB over the wire, one self-hosted variable font at 26 kB, and six images plus two floor plans as WebP. That is 155 kB for the first screen and 411 kB for the whole page. No framework, no page builder, no JavaScript, and nothing requested from a third-party server. The phone numbers are in the fictional-use range and ring nobody. Re-measured whenever the demo changes.
What makes a business website work
Not the animation on the homepage. A working site is one a customer can use in ten seconds on their phone: what you do, whether you're nearby, how to contact you. That's what we design for:
- Mobile-first, responsive layouts, designed for the phone screen first, because that's where your customers are.
- Built SEO-ready, with semantic structure, fast Australian hosting, Google Analytics from launch, so you can see what's working.
- Content you can manage, so you can change prices, add news, swap photos yourself. We train you, and we're here when you'd rather we did it.
- The right platform, WordPress for content and lead generation, Shopify for e-commerce. We build both and will tell you which fits.
Website design from the team that hosts and supports it
Websites don't fail at launch; they fail two years later when nobody owns the problem. Ours run on GravIT hosting in Melbourne with maintenance available, so the people who built the site are the people who answer the phone about it.
What's included
- WordPress or Shopify design and build
- Responsive, mobile-first layout
- SEO-ready structure + Google Analytics
- Training to manage your own content
- Hosting, maintenance and support options
Proof you can play with
The things a business actually needs from a website (speed, reliability, working on a phone) are nearly impossible to show off. So now and then we point the same craft at something you can play with. No libraries, no build tools, no images; just maths and care.

Do you build WordPress or Shopify sites?
Both. WordPress for content-driven business sites, Shopify when the site is primarily a store. We'll recommend the platform that fits what you're selling and how you want to manage it, not the one we feel like building.
Will I be able to update the site myself?
Yes, sites are built so you can manage your own content, and we show you how. When you'd rather not, or something's beyond a content edit, we're a phone call away.
Is SEO included in a new website?
Every site is built SEO-ready: clean structure Google can crawl, fast Australian hosting, and Google Analytics installed from day one. Ongoing ranking work is a separate, honest conversation. See our SEO services.
Will the site work on phones?
Yes, responsive and mobile-first design is the default rather than an extra. Most local searches happen on a phone; the site is designed for that first.
Can I see sites you've built?
Yes, we will walk you through recent client sites relevant to your industry when we talk.
